WHEN: Thursday, May 17, at 7:00 p.m.

WHERE: Shelf Life Books, 100 – 1302 4th St. SW (

Every year Single Onion is pleased to feature the next generation of Calgary poets in our special event. Many of these writers have competed in the Can You Hear Me Now city-wide poetry event, and participated in workshops like the WordsWorth summer writers camp and Loft 112 youth writing classes.

The Onion board is always blown away by the passion and polish of these young artists. Don’t miss it!

About the Poets:

Derrek Faraday is a 17-year old writer, poet, musician, and composer living in Calgary, Alberta. He attends Bishop Grandin High School. Writing has been a prominent passion throughout his life, being his sole medium of expression. He finds himself to be quite fond of the absurd and surreal; the written world is the apex vehicle of escapism, an endless exploration for an active mind.

The Dark Lord does not exist on this mortal plane but will read poetry on it anyway.

Lina Kat while not an actual cat she does have claws, especially in the poetry realm. Also petting her is not recommended.

Eli Smart occasionally appears as a mere mortal but often shows himself as a superhero, his power – ink and words.

The Rogue Poets are soothsayers of strange and sublime stanzas about anything and everything under the sun and well out into space.

Single Onion usually happens the third Thursday of the month, nine times a year. Our event schedule can always be found at:
